Antique Class Rules

1965 and Older Tractors

(Updated 2009)

 

The weight classes are as follows. Horse power limits per class are the first two numbers of the weight class.

1. Dyno testing will enforce these limits.

 

2. Fenders are required for all classes.

 

3. Tractors must be brand name. No alterations that change the appearance from original specs. except weights and safety equipment.

 

4. Stock style wheels and rims or early conversions from steel wheels.

 

5. Weights may not extend behind the hitch point or more than two feet in front of the tractor tires or frame, whichever is the farthermost point. All weights         must be stationary and safely secured to the tractor. If anything should fall from the tractor while pulling- disqualification will result for that hook only.

 

6. Hitch point must be no more than eighteen inches above ground level. At the hitch point, the drawbar must extend beyond the radius of the tires.

 

7. Tractors may pull in any gear. A 3 MPH speed limit will be enforced. The horn will sound when the 3 MPH speed limit is exceeded. If the horn sounds 3 times during the pull, that hook will result in disqualification.

 

8. Driver must remain seated at all times during a pull. One hand must be on the steering wheel at all times during a pull except for the use of hand brakes.

 

9. Tractors must start with the sled chain tight. No jerking the sled or bouncing on the the seat.

 

10. Drivers must receive a signal before pulling. Tractors must be in neutral and hands off the steering wheel until the "GO" signal is given.

 

11. If the scale is on sight, it will be necessary to weigh in before the first pull.

 

12. Only two drivers per tractor per class will be allowed.

 

13. All foot accelerators must be disconnected.

 

14. No comsumption of alcoholic beverages prior to or during the pull will be tolerated. Anyone doing so will be disqualified for the remainder of the day.

 

15. Stock fuels only (gas, diesel, or LP). No alcohol, nitro methane, or nitrous oxide.

 

16. Tires may be one size over original equipment. Changes made only with documentation. Rims cannot be wider than the tire. Farm tread type only. No duels, rice, or radial tires. No shaved or sharpened tires.

 

17. No added governor controls such as ropes, wires, or feet may be used.

 

18. If any tractor touches out of bounds, it will be disqualified for that pull only.

 

19. Tractors must have all safety shields in place, including the cover on a John Deere clutch. All wheels must be secured.

 

20. Tractors must be operated in a safe manner at all times. Speed off the track shall not exceed 4 MPH.

 

21. There shall be no shifting on the go. (TA, Torque, Selecto-Speed, etc.).

 

22. RPM will be checked at throttle stop (positive) and cannot exceed 10% over stock RPM as set by Nebraska test.

 

23. Drawbars must be rigid in all directions. All clevises must be rigid, being flat or twisted and having a minimum of a 3 in. opening. No vertical clevises.

 

24. Tractors must be of two wheel drive type. No duels or chains allowed.

 

25. If a tractor stalls within 25 feet of starting point because of improper gear, tractor must be re-hooked. If any mechanical failure occurs, operator will be  allowed a re-hook.

 

26. The Saginaw Valley Two Cylinder Club will not be responsible for damage done to tractors, drivers, any equipment or spectors while participating in the pulling contest. All participants under 18 years of age will be required to sign a waiver releasing the Club of any liability.

 

27. All 18 year olds must have their own membership.

 

28. Pulling fee will be $5.00 for members and $10.00 for all non-members.

 

29. Minimum age to pull will be 12 years of age if capable and have parental consent and a parent/guardian present.

 

30. All members and non-members will follow these rules. Pulling privileges will be suspended for the remainder of the year if there are three documented violations.

 

31. There will only be one trophy awarded per tractor per class.

 

32. All winning tractors may be subject to Dyno testing. A working PTO will be required.

 

33. Antique tractors wishing to pull in the Antique Plus Class will comply by the Antique Class Rules (Hitch height will be 18 inches, engines RPM will be set per Antique Class Rules and ground speed will be 3 MPH.) Safety requirements for the Antique Plus Rules shall also be met.
